|20-25 cm ↑|This very unique species was named after the Italian Durat, who was the first to grow this species in Europe. It is native to the drylands of western Boliva, eastern Paraquay, southern Brasil and northern Argentina at an altitude of 200 to 3500 meters. Therefore, it is probably most distributed Tillandisa species. The most noticeable character are the rolled-up leaves and its intensively fragrant lilac flowers. The plant itself is very robust and maintenance-free, if fed to much tends to adopted a elongated giant-like growth.
